While we all think the only reason hockey should be canceled is because it is raining razor blades and bocce balls, the fact is we live in an area prone to ice. Snow is one thing - ice is another animal. When the weather turns sour, we have to make decisions that are best for everyone.
The NYHL follows the instructions of the Centennial Sportsplex Staff - if the rink is shutting down due to bad weather, we will have no choice but to cease operations until they open again.
Our #1 goal is always player safety. This can also include times when getting to and from the rink can be dangerous.
When we do have to cancel events at the rink and suspend operations, we hope you understand it is with the players best interest (and yours) in mind and we have been instructed by Rink Management.
Thanks for your understanding.
